All around us pollution is destroying the
world we live in. Despite massive effort, the problem just
gets worse. Everyone is left wondering where answers can be
found
Air quality; bushland
destroyed; waterways polluted; greenhouse gases; the ozone
hole. So many pollution problems plague the world—and all
affect people and destroy our lives and future.
Man has learnt that the
earth is a closed system—there is nowhere to just “put out
the rubbish”. Governments throw money in. Scientists
research for answers. But no-one has a real solution.
No-one, that is, except for
God. In the Bible he details his plan to renew and restore a
polluted earth.
“The desert and the
parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and
blossom like the crocus. It will burst into blossom; it will
rejoice greatly and shout for joy.” Isaiah 35 verses 1,2
It is a plan that gives hope
and assurance to all. And it is a plan he invites us all to
share.
We must each do our own bit
to look after the world God created, but, when it all goes
bad, we can look with confidence to a world with no pollution,
and with all it’s beauty restored in God’s coming kingdom.
“The time has come for judging the dead,
and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your saints
and those who reverence your name, both small and great-- and
for destroying those who destroy the earth.” Revelation 11
verse 18

Health in Crisis!
Trouble in health care is
constantly in the news. Rising insurance costs. Hospitals
closed. Lack of staff. Growing waiting lists. Budget blowouts.
Opposition parties criticise, while governments battle to
provide the services that are needed. Whichever way you look
at it, health care is in a crisis with no simple answers!
In this modern age we all
expect to get treatment we need for good health. No longer do
we accept illnesses that in the past were almost certainly a
death sentence. Care is now also taken with testing,
treatments and immunisations with many people realising that
prevention is better than cure.
But with vast amounts of
money now spent on public and private health care, prevention
and cure are still not certainties. The grim reality is that
aging and death are still certainties. We are stuck with both
death and taxes.
God’s plan for health
shown in the Bible provides a different and much better
answer. His plan for salvation addresses the real problem—aging
and death. The Bible describes it this way: “For
the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life
through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans chapter 6 verse 23)
This is the hope of those
who believe in the true message of the Bible—eternal life,
free from sickness and death, in God’s coming kingdom on
earth.
So as the health care crisis
continues to unfold, better look to God for real health “insurance”.
“Praise the LORD, O my
soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your
sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from
the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies
your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed
like the eagle's.” (Psalm 103 verses 2 to 5 NIV)
